An Online Panel Discussion

The Society for Music Analysis is pleased to announce an online panel discussion on Thursday, October 17, 1PM BST. This panel addresses what it means to do a PhD in music theory and analysis, particularly in the UK. It seeks to combine practical advice about the application process—particularly relating to research proposals and funding applications—with a broader discussion about the experience of completing a PhD in today’s academic context. The panel will involve:

  • Julian Horton, Professor of Music Theory & Analysis at Durham University
  • Annika Forkert, Senior Lecturer in Music at the Royal Northern College of Music
  • Marta Riccardi, PhD Candidate at the University of Liverpool, funded by the AHRC’s North West Consortium Doctoral Training Partnership

Please distribute this information to any interested parties, especially potential PhD candidates, and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
