The Society for Music Analysis has two postgraduate Student
Representatives. One of these positions is now due for election.

Our Student Representatives help the committee discover what sort of
workshops, seminars and conferences are of interest to emerging scholars,
and take a lead role in organising and developing our programme of student
events. Student Representatives are expected to attend SMA committee
meetings, which take place once or twice per year, usually in conjunction
with other SMA events. Travel expenses to these meetings and events are
reimbursed.

The term of office will last until 31 December 2021 in the first instance,
with the possibility of re-election. To be eligible to stand for election
as a Student Representative, you must be enrolled on
a postgraduate university course at the time of application and a current
member of the society. Interested candidates are welcome to contact the
current SMA President, Dr Kenneth Smith, for an informal chat (president@sma
<president@sma.ac.uk>.ac.uk <president@sma.ac.uk>).

Nominations must be seconded (self-nominations are acceptable), and sent
with a statement of candidature to Dr Rebecca Thumpston (administrator@sma
<administrator@sma.ac.uk>.ac.uk <administrator@sma.ac.uk>) by midday on 2
December 2019. E-mail ballots for the election and statements of
candidature will be issued to the membership shortly afterwards. The
successful candidate will take up their post from 1 January 2020.
