Dr Hilary McQueen is a lecturer in education at UCL Institute of Education. She is pathway leader for the post-compsulsory, generic PGCE and a researcher. In addition, she teaches piano and music theory, and formerly singing. She studied music at Edinburgh University, a PGCE at Exeter St Luke’s, psychology with the Open University and gained a PhD on motivation for A-levels from King’s College, London. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Publications include Roles, Rights, and Responsibilities in UK Education: Tensions and Inequalities (2014); journal articles and reports about effective teaching and learning, Musical Futures, and adult music education.
