Travel Grants

SMA Student Travel Bursaries

A limited number of bursaries (of up to £100) are available for existing student members of the Society to cover travel expenses and accommodation for Society study days and TAGS events. Applications, which must include a short summary of the reasons for your attendance and state the sum requested, should be sent to the Society’s Treasurer and Administrator (treasurer@sma.ac.uk; email size limit = 5MB) and should normally arrive no later than two weeks before the event (NB: events held in collaboration with other organisations may have an earlier application deadline – check with the conference organiser if you are unsure). Notification of the outcome will occur within a few days of this deadline. If successful, the bursary will be awarded on the production of receipts. Applicants are expected to pre-book transport in advance of the event in order to secure the most favourable fares; if this is not possible, reasons should be given in the application.
