Online Access to Music Analysis for SMA Members

Over the last few years the SMA’s membership has grown to include music teachers, gap-year students, post-PhDs and unaffiliated scholars who do not have access to back issues of the journal Music Analysis through a university. And so we are pleased to announce that members who choose to opt for a subscription to Music Analysis in their membership package will now not only receive print copies of the issues published during their membership, but will also have online access to issues back to 1999 via the Wiley Online Library – all for still only £36.50 (or £26.50 for students).

Existing members will be contacted about access arrangements once the necessary systems are in place. If you’re not a member yet, then join now!

    2 Reviews: Music Analysis Summer School 2010

    The second SMA, IMR, Wiley-Blackwell Summer School in Music Analysis took place at the University of Durham on 20–24 September 2010, concluding with a symposium entitled ‘New Perspectives on Musical Form‘. The organisers were Michael Spitzer and Jo Buckley.

    The SMA’s International Summer School aims to provide postgraduate participants with an advanced analytical toolkit for use in their research and teaching, and a forum for the exchange of ideas at an international level. It was launched last year in collaboration with the IMR and Wiley-Blackwell, the publishers of Music Analysis.     SMA Masters Bursaries 2011–12

    The Society for Music Analysis will award up to four bursaries, of between £1,000 to £2,000 for one year, to those commencing UK Masters degrees in the academic year 2011–12. Information and guidelines for applicants are now available at
